Video Bump Produces Silver Spur Celebration Fundraising Video Honoring Ed Masterson

Video Bump Inc. was proud to partner once again with the College of the Canyons Foundation to produce the featured fund-a-need video for the 34th Annual Silver Spur Celebration, which honored longtime community leader and philanthropist Ed Masterson.

Held on May 30, 2026, the annual Silver Spur Celebration recognized Masterson for his decades of support for College of the Canyons and his lasting contributions to the Santa Clarita Valley community. As part of the evening’s fundraising efforts, the College of the Canyons Foundation commissioned Video Bump to create a short documentary highlighting the impact of the college’s Commercial Music Program and the future opportunities being created through the Ed Masterson “Voice of Santa Clarita” Endowment.

As a Santa Clarita video production company specializing in documentary storytelling, nonprofit fundraising campaigns, and turnkey video solutions, Video Bump worked closely with the Foundation and college leadership to develop a compelling story centered on creativity, education, and real-world career development in the entertainment industry.

The resulting film showcased how the College of the Canyons Commercial Music Program provides students with hands-on, industry-level experience in music production, recording, and performance. With the entertainment industry constantly evolving, the documentary focused on how access to professional training and modern recording technology can help students bridge the gap between passion and profession.

The documentary featured interviews with Bill Macpherson, Chair of the Music Department, and Andy McCutcheon, Dean of the School of Humanities, both of whom discussed the program’s commitment to preparing students for careers in music and entertainment.

The video also highlighted the personal journeys of current students Orion Kwon and Kevin Martinez, who shared how the Commercial Music Program helped them develop confidence, creativity, and technical skills through performance and recording opportunities.

One of the film’s standout moments featured Brooke Bailey, a 2025 College of the Canyons alumna, reflecting on how the program helped launch her professional career. Her story included becoming a quarter finalist on America’s Got Talent and performing in the touring Broadway production of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.

At the center of the documentary was the college’s new industry-standard recording studio, designed to give students access to the same professional tools and workflows used throughout the music and entertainment industries. Throughout production, the Video Bump team captured cinematic footage inside the recording studio, classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and live performance environments to visually demonstrate the immersive learning experience available to students.

Production photos from the project showcased students working with professional audio equipment, recording sessions inside the new studio space, interviews filmed on campus, and performances that reflected the energy and creativity of the program.

The film also emphasized the importance of continued philanthropic support through the Ed Masterson “Voice of Santa Clarita” Endowment. Created in honor of Masterson’s legacy of community service and support for education, the endowment helps ensure that future students will continue to have access to high-quality training, equipment, and career-building opportunities.

For Video Bump, the project represented another opportunity to help a nonprofit organization tell a meaningful story through professional video production and documentary filmmaking. Fundraising videos like this play an important role in helping educational institutions connect emotionally with donors while demonstrating the direct impact of community support.

Video Bump Partners with College of the Canyons Foundation to Produce Silver Spur Nursing Program Fund-a-Need Video

At Video Bump Inc., we are always honored to collaborate on projects that make a meaningful impact in the community. One of our recent partnerships brought us together with the College of the Canyons Foundation to produce a powerful fundraising video for the 2025 Silver Spur Celebration in support of the College of the Canyons nursing program and the Marlee Lauffer Nursing Scholarship Endowment.

When the College of the Canyons Foundation approached Video Bump to create their annual fund-a-need video, the goal was clear: tell a compelling story about the life-changing impact of nursing education while highlighting the growing need for skilled healthcare professionals in our region. As a Santa Clarita video production company specializing in documentary storytelling, nonprofit fundraising videos, and turnkey video solutions, our team worked closely with the Foundation to craft a piece that would resonate emotionally with donors and event attendees.

Titled The Path from Student to Nurse: College of the Canyons & Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, the short documentary focused on the strong partnership between College of the Canyons and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. The video explored how COC’s nationally respected nursing program helps prepare students for rewarding careers in healthcare while directly addressing the nationwide nursing shortage.

The project featured interviews with several key voices connected to the program, including Tina Waller, Director of the College of the Canyons Nursing Program, and Vicki White, Chief Nursing Officer at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. We also highlighted the personal stories of nurses David Bernard and Alexis Walters, both proud College of the Canyons alumni now serving patients on the front lines at Henry Mayo.

One of the most impactful moments in the documentary came from current nursing student Kenneth Hurley, who shared how financial support and scholarships helped make his education possible. His story helped illustrate why scholarship funding remains critical for students pursuing careers in healthcare.

The video also honored Marlee Lauffer, longtime Vice President of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and the 2025 Silver Spur honoree. The Marlee Lauffer Nursing Scholarship Endowment was created to support future generations of nursing students, ensuring continued access to education and helping strengthen the local healthcare workforce for years to come.

Throughout production, the Video Bump team focused on creating a cinematic and emotionally engaging piece that balanced authentic interviews, healthcare environments, campus visuals, and community storytelling. As a Los Angeles-area video production company based in Santa Clarita, we understand how important it is for nonprofits and educational organizations to connect audiences with stories that inspire action.

In addition to filming interviews and b-roll at College of the Canyons and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, the production captured meaningful moments inside classrooms, nursing labs, and healthcare settings to visually demonstrate the journey from student to professional nurse. Photos from the production showcase nursing students in hands-on training environments, alumni working in patient care, and interviews filmed both on campus and inside the hospital.

Fundraising videos like this are an important part of modern nonprofit and educational marketing. By combining documentary filmmaking with strategic storytelling, organizations can create professional video content that not only informs audiences but also motivates donors to invest in meaningful causes.

Video Bump Inc. was proud to partner with the College of the Canyons Foundation on this important project and help spotlight the incredible work being done to educate the next generation of nurses in Santa Clarita.

Held in Santa Clarita on February 10, 2023, this event holds great significance as it serves as a cornerstone for Single Mothers Outreach’s fundraising efforts. The brainchild of a conversation between the Executive Director and a Photographer in 2009, the gala became a platform where the stories of empowered women could be celebrated through word and art, garnering high visibility. The funds raised at this remarkable occasion play a vital role in supporting single-parent families by providing them with essential resources and services, ranging from food and clothing to therapy, money management classes, emergency housing, and more. Video Bump took charge of producing all the video content showcased throughout the event, delivering exceptional visual narratives. Additionally, we created a compelling video that could be shared by the artists, honorees, and performers with their loved ones, thereby extending the impact of the gala beyond its immediate audience. Through our outstanding contributions, Video Bump exemplified their dedication to supporting charitable endeavors and amplifying the voices of empowered women.

Holiday Home Tour

We are incredibly proud to share our continued involvement in producing Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Holiday Home Tour videos for the third consecutive year. Filming these homes was a true delight, as we captured the dazzling sparkle and intricate details of their holiday dĂ©cor. However, the magic of this event extends beyond the visual splendor. The Holiday Home Tour, including the Virtual Tour, Gala, and Holiday Boutique, serves as a crucial fundraiser for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Center for Women and Newborns. This year’s homeowners have graciously opened their doors to showcase their uniquely styled homes. The Taban Family’s Sand Canyon residence, sponsored by Williams Homes, will glow with the theme “Let it Glow! Let it Glow!
